Alumni has hosted a number of events and partnered up with other departments, external and internal partners aiming to friendraise and raise awareness regarding campaigns Alumni Relations have hosted.

Council has taken note of, and salutes, the struggle that has been waged by students and workers for a more equal, socially-just society. NMMU wishes to state its full commitment to creating progressive opportunities for working class students to access the university and for workers to enjoy equitable and just conditions of service.

UN Represented

Three NMMU graduates, Jan – Louis Werner, Emmanuel Nibishaka and Anton Botha, all from different, faculties and backgrounds have spread their wings and joined the employment of the United Nations in the United States of America in various positions.   

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Alumni were honoured for the significant contributions they have made to their specialist fields and their contributions to the development and well-being of society at local, provincial, national and international level.

Nozibele Qamngana embodies the spirit of ubuntu, the Xhosa philosophy that celebrates human interconnectedness. I am, because you are. Her success is a testament to the power of others.  

When their paths first crossed at varsity, little did they know that they would one day,  work and run a business together.

Andrew Binning 1993 (BComm) and Deon Engelke 1994 (BA) were both at Xanadu residence in the interesting early 90s when as teenagers they became friends.
