Khwezi Blose'Alumni Association Representative to Council

Khwezi Blose BSc (Construction Eco) BSc Hons (QS)’05, is the current Alumni representative to council and has served the Association in various capacities. As a student he was a SRC member (faculty and international office representative), soccer player and University choir member (serving as a member for 21 years well beyond his student years). As a student leader and alumni representative, he wants to help limit the challenges students experience based on his own experiences of social injustice and class distinction. He believes alumni can play a major role in helping our University become a truly transformed and inclusive excellent African higher education institution.

Khwezi shares, “2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, we have lost our loved ones, our friends, our colleagues and our leaders, some of us had challenges in our work places - we’ve lost revenue and jobs, we’ve missed opportunities and businesses and it has not been easy dealing with the situation. Trying to resuscitate our economy will not be easy seeing that we are currently faced with the second wave. What lessons do we learn from these experiences – things can be done differently? The Association Executive meetings, AGM and Alumni Awards ceremony were virtual, and we collaborated with the Business School to host webinars involving local and international experts, many of them alumni. We managed to end the year grateful for what we could achieve. On behalf of the Alumni Association Executive Committee all alumni, friends and colleagues who supported the Association and University are thanked for their individual and collective roles. Stay safe and have a blessed festive season and vacation.”
