New Alumni Association President Khwezi Blose and Vice President Michelle Mbaco have already started engaging with alumni at national alumni gatherings in Eastern Cape, Western Cape and Gauteng sharing Association goals as well as getting feedback from alumni. Both the Association office bearers are also members of the University Council representing alumni.

Mr Blose is currently the CEO of Masakeni Civil Construction. His Mandela University qualifications include a BSc in Construction Economics and a BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying. Ms Mbaco is currently the Manager: Strategic Operations for the ANC Parliamentary Caucus in the Parliament of the RSA.  Her Mandela qualifications include a BComm and a Master’s degree specialising in Development Studies.

Mr Blose assumed the position of President in line with the Alumni Constitutional provisions when Dr Randall Jonas announced at the 2018 AGM that he would be ending his term of office early. Ms Mbaco was subsequently elected as Vice-President at a recent Executive Committee meeting. The Association thanks Dr Jonas for his years of service to the Association and University in various governance roles. Dr Jonas is currently Director of the Nelson Mandela University Business School and was recently elected as the President of the South African Business Schools Association (SABSA).

Mr Khaya Matiso, current CEO of PE College and former Mandela University Missionvale Campus Director and Dean of Students, was also elected at the AGM as the Alumni Association representative on the Institutional Forum.

The Association will be sharing its plans and programmes in upcoming newsletters and publications and calls upon alumni to support the various initiatives.
