Change the world

Digital technology transformation was boosted during the Covid-19 pandemic as countries were and many still remain under lockdown regulations. The traditional national and international alumni chapter social events stopped during this period and was replaced by online webinars and increased digital communication.

Some of the advantages of online engagement include open online access to University events such as public lectures and talks to alumni and friends globally as well as greater global participation in alumni consultative meetings and recognition events such as alumni awards. But how do we use digital technology to facilitate voluntary alumni engagement and networking, allow for interest group interaction, sharing of information and ease of giving back via a platform which can also provide the required analytics to be of greater service to alumni.

Nelson Mandela University will launch a digital networking platform within the next few weeks as part of its efforts to take its alumni engagement to the next level. Once launched, signing up will be quick and easy. More online content will be shared and in future most in person events will have some online element to allow more people to be part of and enjoy what institutions have to offer.

Digital networking platforms also allow for greater segmentation addressing specific group interests which include life cycle stage, discipline or industry or sport. More interactive and two way communication also provided for on the platform and multiple administrators can be involved in managing groups. More information will be shared with alumni over the next few weeks. Our digital networking platform is part of our strategy to increase our alumni connections and interaction.
