This book honours Nelson Mandela through his quotes and anecdotes interlaced with Bevan’s poetry and commentary. His first book was a poetry collection called “As Woorde Spreek” (When Words Speaks) through Milborrow Media.
A second poetry collection titled “Confessions in Ink” was published by Creative Talents Unleashed in California and his third book “In Pursuit of Poetic Perfection” was a collaboration with Selwyn Milborrow, Don Beukes and Leroy Abrahams.
His writing is mostly narrative, based on morals and values. He strives to construct and communicate stories or teach a lesson in his writing. He was the 2019 Eastern Cape Arts and Culture Award recipient for Written Literature English.
Bevan shares, “Nelson Mandela has always been an interesting figure for me. When I heard his story and journey it inspired me in so many ways. Being a student at Nelson Mandela University I was always exposed to his quotes in our diaries. These quotes always impressed me and made me think about life differently. I always knew that I wanted to write something about this world icon.”
