When asked how he felt about his new appointment he responded; “I am extremely grateful to the voters of South Africa to represent their needs and aspirations. Our mission should always be about creating a culture of caring about the next person whether something affects us individually or when no one is watching. The fight is not against our opponents but the harsh realities facing South Africans; such as poor education, unemployment, crime and lack of basic services. Our duty is to simply not talk at each other and look popular but talk to each other in mitigating solutions that will redress the legacies of the past, reconcile the country, build on our diversity; be it race, religion, gender, ethnicity and deliver prosperity for all South Africans. That’s the conviction I carry on this new journey.”
