This year, Alumni has hosted a number of events and partnered up with other departments, external and internal partners aiming to friendraise and raise awareness regarding campaigns Alumni Relations have hosted and intend on hosting this year.

MADIBAZ SUPPORT … Alumni supporting Madibaz at the first Varsity Cup home game at NMMU’s South Campus were Member of Parliament and board member of EP Rugby Cedrick Frolick (from left), Alumni Director Paul Geswindt, Rising Star Award recipient and managing director at KPMG Alan Barr and Managing Director of Inkanyezi Events Andrew Binning, who were guests at the Alumni Legacy suite.

SUMMERJAZZ... OVER 100 alumni, NMMU staff and students attended the Alumni Summer Jazz Evening held recently at Madibaz CafĂ© on NMMU’s South Campus. The annual event boasted the well acclaimed TwoTone Band who entertained the crowd the evening. Attending is Sesethu Gqomo, Adv Shuaib Rahim and Andrea Buchanan

WEIS CONCERT ...  Junita Van Dijk and the NMMU Choir and Ensemble performing at the Alumni Concert at Weis Memorial Congregational Church in Schauderville.

The annual Alumni Festive Concert was held at the Dutch Reformed Church recently. The venue was filled with alumni and friends who came to enjoy the music festivities. Proceeds from the event went towards the Alumni Bursary Fund.

This year NMMU awards over 6000 diplomas and degrees at this years graduation cermonies in Port Elizabeth and George including the Summer graduation. This includes 488 master's degrees and 72 doctorate degrees. We are proud of our Alumni.

NMMU's Open Day in George this year was a success with a number of the surrounding schools attending with their learners and parents as well. The Alumni Relations Office showcased a number of alumni who had been given recognition during the past 10 years of NMMU either as honorary doctorates or award recipients

NMMU celebrated Madibaz Day on Monday 11 May 2015. Staff and students were encouraged to visit the expo from 11am to 2.30pm in the Indoor Sports Centre. Followed by a Concert on the grass in the stadium. They were treated with the likes of

•The international award-winning NMMU choir

•Staff members Frans du Toit and Robert Pearce

•Two Tone and members of the NMMU Big Band who will perform cover version of well-known songs

•Dancing by Nicky-Ann Rayepen and dancers – neo-classical and hip hop funk fusion

•Poetry by Linokuhle Mahleka (Kush)

•Erle Felkers 5 piece band

•The NMMU DJ Society, featuring Nomfundo Ndlovu and others

This year's Cape Town Alumni Social was held ath The Protea Breakwater Hotel with the NMMU's Computing Science joining in the event. Over 75 alumni and friends attended the event. Thank you to all who supported.

This years' Leadercast "The Brave Ones", was held at the NMMU North Campus Conference Centre. Speakers for the live Broadcast included current Nobel Prize Winner Malala Yousefza, Ed Catmull, President of Pixar and Disney among many other well known global leaders.

This years annual Alumni AGM was in the form of a meeting and social that was held in the dining hall of the NMMU North Campus Conference Centre. Over 80 alumni and friends attended the event. President of the Alumni Association, Dr Randall Jonas hands over a gift from the Alumni Association to the Vice Chancellor Prof Derrick Swartz.
