2016 Alumni JHB Social

 

NMMU Alumni Relations Office recently held an engagement social at the Country Club Johannesburg. President of the Alumni Association Dr Randall Jonas addressed alumni and friends present.

 

2016 #TRAILBLAZING - finishing the journey


NMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Derrick Swartz, NMMU Chancellor Santie Botha, entrepreneur and businesswoman Dr Bridgette Gasa and 20 others will be pooling their resources and inspiring their own networks to dig deep into their pockets to become part of the solution towards financing these particular students.

The team will be tackling the four-day Inca trail to Machu Picchu in South America from 1 to 4 September, symbolically raising R1m for each day.

 

2016 Leadercast


Leadercast - Architects of tomorrow was recently held at the NMMU Conference Centre over two days. The live broadcast included world famous leadership icons such as Co-Founder of Apple Inc Steve Wozniak, Acclaimed Leadership Expert Dr Henry Cloud among many others.

 

2016 Alumni Festive Concert


 

This years Alumni Festive Concert was well attended and boasted various artists including well renowned performer Elizabeth Lombard, The Pearson High School Concert Band among many others. All proceeds were in aid of the Alumni Bursary Fund.

 

2016 NMMU Open Day


 

Open day 2016 created excitement, anticipation and many career options for learners from across the Eastern Cape. We had the pleasure of meeting our future Student Alumni and showcased some of our top Alumni.

 

2016 NMMU Alumni presents "A Musical Connection"


 

The concert has a distinctly "African" flavour; including orchestra and choirs in settings of "Plea fro Africa", "African Dream" and "Freedom Medley" from the movie Sarafina. "Africa Smiles" composed by the late Errol Cuddumbey is featured in a great arrangement by Kyle du Preez, trombone teacher at Greenwood Primary School. Choirs from the New Apostolic church will perform traditional spirituals and "Sing Africa" with the Twotone Band. A true community engagement with schools, churches, community ensembles and the NMMU.

 

2016 Alumni Past Pupil Project Launch


 

NMMU Alumni together with NAPDI launched its community outreach project recently. The Northern Areas high schools website and past pupil programme launch had fourteen high schools benefitted directly from this programme funded by the Northern Areas People Development Initiative (Napdi) and the Office of the Premier which will be extended to identified primary schools to promote the schools and get past pupils and friends involved in school development.

 

2016 CPT Alumni Event


 

This year's Cape Town Social Cocktail Event was held and sponsored by Allan Gray Orbis Foundation. Two guests addressed fellow alumni on different aspects in life and business, Lyndon Jozaffe and Andrew Bradley both graduated from the institution.

 

2016 NMMU Graduation


Over 4000 graduates joined the alumni family during this years Autumn graduation ceremonies. In this picture the Faculty of Engineering, the Built Environment and IT celebrated their recent success.
