Athenkosi Sityata: Treasurer
Alumni Association Treasurer, Athenkosi Sityata is a BCom (Gen Acc)’16 and PG Dip (Fin Plan)’17 graduate. He is currently studying towards an Advanced Diploma in Business Studies focusing on Monitoring and Evaluation.
Athenkosi is a former student leader, Madibaz Radio sports presenter and producer and a UNICEF volunteer. Issues which are important to him include access to higher education and childhood development. According to him, Mandela University has given him and others an opportunity to develop and grow in a healthy environment. Many other opportunities were offered to him by the University, including a great teaching and learning experience.
His involvement in the Alumni Association Executive Committee has helped him to appreciate the diversity and strength of the University’s alumni. It has also helped him to increase the engagement of the younger alumni with the Association and to demystify the myths about the Association.
Athenkosi shares, “Mandela Alumni must continue to change the world and be driven to develop their areas of influence. Mandela Alumni must be able to ensure that they build future alumni by investing in their education and post-schooling opportunities because of their trust in products built by the institution”.
