These talks align with SAS’s core value of fostering opportunities for current students to gain industry insights and engagement experiences, while also keeping Mandela alumni connected to their alma mater.

This year, SAS held four engaging events featuring four amazing alumnae:
• Thina Balakistnen, a Leadership and Life Coach, spoke on the significance of Human Rights.
• Lucretia Sauls, the Talent and Development Lead at Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa, focused on Interview and Employability Enhancement.
• Varonique Philander, the Founder of Legal Ascend & Chaya Legal, discussed the legalities involved in the employment process.
• Gishma Johnson, Director at Johnson Communication and PR, - shared insights on the importance of communication in the digital space.
In addition to these events, SAS ran a campaign in honour of Nelson Mandela Day. The Cans4Change initiative encouraged donations of R16.70 to support the university's food bank.
The current society membership stands at 100.
The society offers a valuable opportunity to connect with graduates and industry professionals, unlocking mentorship, career prospects, and networking. Members of the society become part of a larger community which promotes personal and professional development, while also enabling students to contribute to initiatives that benefit both the university and society. The society also assists in promoting the work of the Alumni Relations Office and Alumni Association, as all students ultimately aim to graduate and become part of the global alumni family.
