The visit focused on reinforcing relationships with universities with which Nelson Mandela University already has active memoranda of understanding, while also exploring potential collaborations with new partner institutions. A key component of the programme was engaging with alumni and friends of the University based in Kenya.
Nelson Mandela University currently counts 358 graduates from Kenya, including 50 who have obtained doctoral degrees. Members of the delegation had the opportunity to meet several of these alumni in Nairobi, gaining insight into their diverse career journeys and contributions across sectors.
The alumni gathering brought together graduates from different eras and academic disciplines, providing a valuable platform for networking, reconnection and knowledge-sharing. The engagement also included South African alumni living and working in Kenya, further strengthening the University’s regional and international alumni community.
Nelson Mandela University looks forward to sharing more stories from across the African continent, highlighting the impactful work of its alumni who continue to serve society and drive positive change both locally and globally.
