This year NMMU is celebrating its 10th anniversary and we hope our 2015 Alumni Awards event will be an exciting and special experience. The NMMU Alumni Association invites alumni to nominate alumni for the 2015 Alumni Achiever and Alumni Rising Star Awards - acknowledging individuals who have made their mark locally, nationally and internationally. Our alumni represent a global extension of the institutional footprint and it is fitting that we recognize their achievements at all levels and in all disciplines.
NMMU BCom Law graduate, Keenan Bergins, has been appointed as the General Manager of Golden Valley Casino, Sun International, almost a year ago in Worcester, Western Cape. Bergins was the former Operations Manager at Carnival City Casino and Entertainment World, Sun International. He is currently the youngest General Manager in the Sun International Group.
Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is a decade old! The university opened on 1 January 2005, the result of the merging of the PE Technikon the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE) and the Port Elizabeth campus of Vista University (Vista PE). This union of three very different institutions came about as a result of government’s countrywide restructuring of higher education – intended to deliver a more equitable and efficient system to meet the needs of South Africa in the 21st century.
NMMU LLB graduate, Hein Visser has been selected as one of the 200 "Leaders of Tomorrow" from around the globe for the St Gallen Symposium which recently took place in Switzerland. Visser is currently employed as an Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges in London.
