Webber Wentzel appoints 14 new partners in 2021.

Alumnus Damian Wright has been appointed as one of the 14 new partners. Wright holds a BCom Law ’11 and LLB ’13 from Nelson Mandela University.

As per Webber Wentzel’s website, Wright specialises in dispute resolution, focused on corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. His clients include leading local and international clients including major banks, big four audit firms, private equity companies, and top JSE listed entities. Damian has been responsible for the arbitration and case management of a number of complex and high-profile disputes. He also has experience in insolvency and business rescue related matters, and has provided litigation support in several forensic investigations.


Award Recipient Recognised by The International Aluminium Institute

Recognised as a values-driven expert in her field, Theresia Ott, has a doctorate in Natural Sciences and experience in both the civil society and business sides of environmental and natural resources management. Ott holds a BSc ’04 and BScHons ’05 from Nelson Mandela University. She is an Archbishop Tutu African Leadership Fellow and received a Nelson Mandela University Alumni Achiever Award in 2020. 
 
Ott joined Rio Tinto at their Richards Bay Minerals operation in South Africa in 2012 then entered the corporate environment team in 2016 to help Rio Tinto develop and implement a new approach to biodiversity protection and has been leading global Environment function since 2018.

Alumnus ranks top 50 in ‘Women in Accounting’ Internationally

Practice Ignition has released its top 50 women in accounting list naming one of Nelson Mandela University’s alumni as one of them. Zanele Madlingozi who holds a Diploma  (Internal Auditing)  ‘05’ and BTech (Internal Auditing) ‘05’ is one of only three South Africans to make it on this list. 
 
“It is really an honour to be included in the top 50 women and having to represent my country globally,” she said on her LinkedIn public post.
