V2030 and Alumni Meeting
The Alumni Association elected members met with Prof Heather Nel the senior director of institutional planning to discuss the Vision 2030 of the university.
AAEC Special meeting
The AAEC special meeting was held to review the constitution and there was no conclusion that was made, therefore a follow-up meeting will be held on the 08th of December 2020 from 15:00-17:00.
Alumni Awards 2020
The online alumni awards were held on the 26th of November 2020, they started at 18:00-19:00. There were 7 awards that were conferred in total. 4 rising star awards, 1 special award and 2 achievers awards. The Rising stars were Dumisani Chauke, Siyabulela Mandela, Dr Sweta Patnaik and Conrad van Loggerenberg. The special award recipient is Nomhle Zako. The achievers awards are St. Claire Adriaan and Dr Theresia Ott. The Vice Chancellor gave a congratulatory message, the Alumni Association president welcomed the people and the vice president gave the vote of thanks.

2019 Choir Reunion - 25th Anniversary
This year marks the 25th anniversary of South Africa’s first multi-racial university choir - formed at the very start of this country’s democracy - and celebrates a journey of excellence that has taken Nelson Mandela University’s talented singers across the world. The internationally-acclaimed, award-winning choir recently celebrated their milestone with a reunion concert where all past and present members were invited to share in its celebrations.

2019 Alumni Awards
Nelson Mandela University Alumni Awards recognise alumni who have gone the distance and beyond in their various fields, to the benefit of society at local, provincial, national and international level. A number of outstanding nominations were received by the Alumni Association's Executive Committee and in the spirit of the University's values, it is proud to present its 2019 recipients at the 10th annual Alumni Awards ceremony.
2019 Mthatha Alumni Event

This year the Alumni Reflections Event focused on the 4th Industrial Revolution and its impact on Universities, Work & Human Relations. 2019 Alumni Association AGM
The Alumni Association Executive Committee Annual General Meeting was recently held where members of the Alumni Association were elected as its office bearers and for a three year term of office.
2019 Cape Town Mandela Aumni Social Event
This year more than 100 alumni and friends attended the Cape Town Mandela Alumni Social Event which was held at The Cape town Hotel School. Guest speakers included Nelson Mandela University's Prof Oswald Franks, Prof Jean Greyling and Alumni Association Vice-President and Alumni Representative to Council Michelle Mbaco.

2019 Leadercast
Leadercast is the largest one-day leadership event in the world, broadcast each year from Atlanta to hundreds of Host Sites around the globe. Nelson Mandela University hosted Leadercast 2019 for key staff members at the Nelson Mandela University Business School at the Second Avenue Campus.

This year's Nelson Mandela University Open Day saw hundreds of prospective students visit the Missionavale Campus to have a taste of their future career paths
2019 PE Graduation
The University’s autumn graduation period kicked off on Wednesday, 3 April in George, and will see more than 5000 graduands in George and Port Elizabeth cross the stage and receive their certificates, diplomas and degrees over 16 sessions until 13 April. This includes more than 700 postgraduate qualifications, including about 60 doctoral degrees. Autumn graduation will also see the first cohort of the new BHSc Medical Laboratory Science and MA IT Governance students.
2019 Sikunye Alumni Event
This years Sikunye Alumni Jazz Event took place recently at the North Campus Conference Centre in aid of the Alumni Fund. Each person attending donated R50 towards the Alumni Fubd which will assist students in need.

More than 70 alumni and friends attended the event with one of our former Alumni Achiever Award Recipients Mandla Gagayi in attendance as well.The event was held at The Atlantic Imbizo Conference Venue at the V&A Waterfront.
2018 Johannesburg Alumni Event
The annual Alumni Johannesburg Event was held at the Country Club Johannesburg with more than 90 alumni and friends present. Among present were former Alumni Award recipients, Parmi Natesan, Prof Ernie Heath and Asithandile Rangile and Songezo Zibi.

2018 Alumni Jazz Event
Earlier this evening, the Nelson Mandela University Alumni Relations Office hosted a well attended jazz evening. Performing artists were Ad Lib Entertainment, Legato SA and Ulagh Williams, who recently launched her debut book.
2017 Summer Graduation
This week, 1728 students, including 31 doctoral candidates, were the first to receive their qualifications at the Summer Graduation in the institution’s new name of Nelson Mandela University.

FIFA/CIES Nelson Mandela Alumni Reunion
The unique academic partnership between the Centre International d’Étude du Sport (CIES) in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) and Nelson Mandela University was established in January 2007. A 10 reunion was recently held.

The first lifestyle event for the year recently took place at Rendezvous Café, on South Campus. NMMU Alumni Relations together with Masterton's Coffee and Tea Specialists, the oldest brewer in South Africa, entertained the guests with their creative coffee art and the simple tradition of a perfectly brewed cup of coffee.

#Trailblazing Alumni Cocktail
The Alumni Association recently held an official send off in the form of a cocktail event for Dr Bridgette Gasa, an alumnus and a recipient of NMMU's Alumni Rising Star Award in 2012. We are proud of Dr Gasa, and her willingness to participate in the campaign to raise funds for such a worthy cause. The Association increased their initial pledge to R150 000 towards the campaign.
2016 Alumni Reflections
Alumni Relations celebrated Diversity month with a Reflections event "Case for Change" where 3 alumni guest speakers, Dr Randall Jonas, Dr Muki Moeng and Prof Iona Wannenburg addressed alumni and friend. Robert Pearce, NMMU Director: Library started off the event with a series of entertaining poetry.

This years AGM was held at the North End Conference Centre - the new executive members were nominated at this meeting
2016 Alumni Festive Concert @ Weis
The Alumni Festive Concert was held at The Weis Memorial Congregational Church in Schauderville. The third Festive concert this year was attended by over 400 alumni and friends.
